Data Rich, Insight Poor: Why Better Data Isn't Creating Better Decisions

Time: Wednesday, January 27, 2027 from 2:30–3:30 PM ET through the AED Agricultural Track sessions

Director of Insights, Andy Campbell, and Manager of Data & Analytics, Hank Mandsager, will present on why more data hasn't automatically led to better decisions at the dealership, and what to do about it.

Many dealers have solved the data problem, but few have solved the “decision” problem: How to apply these data insights to improve operations. Drawing on Tractor Zoom's own equipment pricing work, Andy and Hank will walk through what they expected to drive pricing, what the data actually showed, and how it changed their thinking. 

Ag dealers will leave with a practical framework for turning information into decisions, and decisions into learning.

Questions this session will aim to tackle:

• Why do good dashboards still lead to bad decisions?
• Which decisions should be standardized, and which require judgment?
• Where does AI help, and where is it currently insufficient?
• How can dealerships learn faster than their competitors?
